21 May Researchers share information, strategize at May meeting

Researchers from the Early Learning Network gathered May 17 in Alexandria, Virginia, to discuss strategies for enhancing early childhood education research and collaborative projects among network research teams.
The researchers discussed various themes that have emerged across their research projects, including different outcomes between children attending PreK and those not attending PreK; differences among school districts’ and states’ definitions and structures of PreK, and how that relates to child outcomes; the role of family engagement and home/school communication in child outcomes; and what factors affect individual child experiences in the classroom.
Conference attendees included 18 network researchers from the five research teams and the assessment team. An additional three representatives from the Institute of Education Sciences were also on hand.
The network’s next group meeting will be in January 2019 in Washington, D.C.
