Meet the Research Teams: University of Virginia

Robert Pianta discusses University of Virginia’s research as part of the Early Learning Network. View video.

University of Virginia is one of five research teams in the Early Learning Network. The team’s studies are taking place in Fairfax County Public Schools in northern Virginia.

In a new video, Robert Pianta, University of Virginia principal investigator, shares unique perspectives about his team’s research studies.

“The focus of our project is to really understand the experiences children are having in classrooms, all the way from pre-K to third grade, and the ways in which those experiences connect to their learning,” Pianta said. “We’re particularly interested in teachers’ practices, both instructionally and in the way they engage children through their social interactions and language with kids.”
